About Us

Our Mission:

We are a team of high schoolers focused on fostering a space for a local, Atlantan community of young writers. Our goal is to create a safe space to promote their voices! We would love to have you join us on this journey as we learn how to best show off your work!

Meet the team of High schoolers

Gabby

Gabby Short is a junior at Woodward Academy who has a passion for expressing herself through creative writing and visual arts. She is involved in her school’s literary magazine, Silent Voices, where she interacts with other creative minds to share her peers’ work. She has also worked at summer camps for elementary schoolers. She loves reading comics of all types and practicing guitar. With her experience with literary magazines she hopes to create a similar space for kids to the one she’s found with Silent Voices. As a kid, she was nervous about sharing her writing. She hopes to create a place where younger writers can believe in themselves!

Margo

Margo Pierson is a high school writer who goes to the Galloway School. She attended the Iowa Young Writers’ studio, and her work has been recognized by Scholastic and Georgia River of Words. She has self published a book of poetry that is available on Amazon. Margo has a a passion for working with kids and was a camp counselor the past 3 summers. When she’s not found obsessively writing, she’s pondering the mysteries of life, listening to “underground” music, and going on walks that lead to nowhere. With Dinosaur Diaries she hopes to amplify youth voices around Atlanta and give kids the courage to share their story!

Makayla

Makayla Heming attends Woodward Academy where she connects with learners of all ages. She loves crocheting, painting, creating unique pieces of jewelry, and designing websites. For the past four years, she has dedicated her summers to working at her school’s camp, where she engages with kids ages 8 to 12. In her downtime, Makayla immerses herself in cozy video games, where she finds comfort in storytelling and exploration of other worlds. In elementary school she wrote lots of stories herself and is familiar with the creative process. She is dedicated to making Dinosaur Diaries a dynamic and creative platform for people like her.

Alina

Alina Gluzman is a junior in high school at Galloway who has been writing creatively, in multiple languages, since she was in elementary school. This past summer, she worked with kids ages 6-14 at camps with various different themes, one of which was made to inspire children to write creatively. In her downtime, she likes to build Legos, go on walks, volunteer at nursing homes, and read. By working on this magazine, she hopes to help inspire more children to write, read, and become confident in their skills. Just think, if they or their friends were to see their own writing published online… that would be such a confidence booster!
